About the work
Eye of Napoleon Fish
A rare sea creature, the Napoleon Fish, has the ability to rotate its eye 360°. As they age, many fishes decide to change their sex from female to male, which means they change from the female's red-orange colours to the male's bright blue-green colours. The population has declined by more than half in the last three decades due to illegal fishing, loss and degradation of the seabed, underwater fishing and the effects of climate change.
The author's fascination with the mythological world of fauna and flora runs through all her work. She notices the details of various animals and their stories in order to give them a new shape, context or attention.
