Markéta Othová
Markéta Othová
Markéta Othová can be described as a matador of the conceptual approach to the medium of photography. Her large-format photographs highlight not only the aesthetics of the technical image, but also, as if unintentionally, emphasize the surrounding space in the installation. They are gestures inseparable from the fundamental wave of the generation of Czech artists presented abroad and locally since the early 1990s. Markéta Othová's photographs are characterised by a unique sensitivity, especially towards the pursuit of banality and everyday motifs. However, her work is also characterized by a stubbornness in the sense of working with form and respect, but also by a deliberate subversion of her chosen medium. Balancing on the edge of contradiction on many levels has long characterised the artist's work.
